In 1970 the village of Tatworth was left a large area in the centreof the village to be used for a playing field.  The creation of theTatworth Playing Field was instigated and helped by the ParishCouncil.  The village has grown in population and now a very largevillage surrounds the Playing Fields.  The conditions of the bequeststated that Tatworth Playing Field and Pavilion Club be founded as a Charityand run by a Management Committee comprising  representatives fromall organisations within the village.  The ManagementCommittee has the responsibility to maintain and improve pitches, changingfacilities and social areas to ensure the Clubs and community have a securehome-base in a safe and relaxing environment.   The partnershipsbetween the Playing Fields & Pavilion Club and the Village Clubs/Organisationsworks in two ways - a fair but nominal fee for the facilities is charged toensure our financial viability and to enable the maintenance and upkeep of allamenities.  In this way we support the Clubs/Organisations to help them tocontinue striving to better themselves  i.e. to become Standard CharterClubs, train coaches etc. The local community has the use of the facilities forall sports and social events.

In 2008, with the help of a legacy from theStoneham Brothers and grants from the Football Foundation, SALSF, SSDC andthe Parish Council, we were able to build an extension and have new uptodate changing facilities, toilets and social area, all with disabled access. On the field we have a safe and well equipped childrens' play area, a full sizefootball pitch, Mini football pitches,a cricket pitch,a tennis court and aMUGA.  We continue to encourage all the community to use the facilities.

There is an entrance into the primary school and children areencouraged to use 'the safe path to school' through the playing field which canbe accessed from 3 areas of the village.  The Playing Field is availablefor all local recreational, social and sporting activities. There are monthlybingo sessions and a regular quiz. In the Pavilion, the social lounge is availablefor your parties and meetings with full bar and kitchen facilites for 100people. Facilities are available 7 days a week. New members are alwayswelcome.   ( for details of social and sporting events please see"Coming Events" section on the Welcome page)
