In 1970 the village of Tatworth was left a large area in the centre of the village to be used for a playing field.  The creation of theTatworth Playing Field was instigated and helped by the Parish Council.  The village has grown in population and now a very large village surrounds the Playing Fields.  The conditions of the bequest stated that Tatworth Playing Field and Pavilion Club be founded as a Charity and run by a Management Committee comprising  representatives fromall organisations within the village.  The Management Committee has the responsibility to maintain and improve pitches, changing facilities and social areas to ensure the Clubs and community have a secure home-base in a safe and relaxing environment.   The partnerships between the Playing Fields & Pavilion Club and the Village Clubs/Organisations works in two ways - a fair but nominal fee for the facilities is charged to ensure our financial viability and to enable the maintenance and upkeep of all amenities.  In this way we support the Clubs/Organisations to help them to continue striving to better themselves  i.e. to become Standard CharterClubs, train coaches etc. The local community has the use of the facilities for all sports and social events.

In 2008, with the help of a legacy from the Stonham Brothers and grants from the Football Foundation, SALSF, SSDC and the Parish Council, we were able to build an extension and have new up to date changing facilities, toilets and social area, all with disabled access. On the field we have a safe and well equipped childrens' play area, a full size football pitch, Mini football pitches,a cricket pitch,a tennis court and a MUGA.  We continue to encourage all the community to use the facilities.

There is an entrance into the primary school and children are encouraged to use 'the safe path to school' through the playing field which can be accessed from 3 areas of the village.  The Playing Field is available for all local recreational, social and sporting activities. There are monthly bingo sessions and a regular quiz. In the Pavilion, the social lounge is available for your parties and meetings with full bar and kitchen facilites for 100 people. Facilities are available 7 days a week. New members are always welcome.
